Sunday night / Monday morning I had the misfortune of being woken by the patrol car carrying some of our finest down Wargrave Road at 2.20am sirens blaring and lights flashing. I was not inconsiderably annoyed and later that morning decided to make a complaint. I rang the number given on the Merseyside Police website and asked to be put through to Earlestown Police Station. Hang on a sec...I'll put you through..Hello....Hello says I, is that Earlestown Police Station ?...No, but I cover that area. I asked the person was it really necessary to make all that noise in the middle of the night, considering it's quite possible to drive all the way across this small town in a couple of minutes driving normally. The person said the sirens and the lights are meant to warn pedestrians and vehicles that a fast moving police car is approaching. My reply was that there aren't any vehicles or pedestrians in the middle of the night, just law abiding citizens who are sound asleep in their beds that is until the boys in blue decide they would like to play Starsky and Hutch. Call me an old cynic but could Earlestown's finest be giving a warning to any likely villains that they are on their way and they'd best scarper. It saves an awful lot of police paperwork.

We get this all the bloody time on Market Street. You will be sat there or a sleep in bed next thing a blast of Blue and loud. I can understand if the lights are on Red but I have seen these buggers when Green is on show.

they are all tossers anyway so whatever you say to them is laughed off behind your back, the public are a nuisance to them
